A Message from Frank Giordano, President & CEO

Our 40th Anniversary Season was full of talent, memorable moments, and magic. Now, we’ve upped the ante once more with our 41st season — the TOPS of the POPS — a yearlong celebration of some of music’s greatest artists and their stellar achievements.

We’ll start our glittering season with a trip to Tinseltown in POPS Goes to Hollywood, featuring some of Hollywood’s most iconic music names. Then we will honor two British rock legends in POPS Rocks Abbey Road and POPS Rocks Phil Collins. Two Broadway legends take the spotlight this year in HAMLISCH and SONDHEIM. Finally, we’ll honor two all-time greats: The Queen of Soul in ARETHA: RESPECT and The Chairman in SINATRA.

Make sure to come early to enjoy pre-show entertainment in Commonwealth Plaza, and be sure to stop by the POPS table for your commemorative TOPS of the POPSbutton!

We start with POPS Goes to Hollywood: From Raiders to Gotham. It’s a big adventure—full of John Williams, Danny Elfman and Howard Shore. That’s Star Wars, Batman, and Lord of the Rings! POPS Rocks celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Abbey Road, bringing the Beatles and the talented performers of Classical Mystery Tour back to town.

Philly fell in love with Mandy Gonzalez last Christmas! She’s fearless as ever—fresh from her Hamilton triumph, full of surprises and plenty of new dresses! Principal Guest Conductor David Charles Abell brings his signature magic to bear in this season’s A Philly POPS Christmas.

Then, in January, it’s time for a more personal look, Marvin Hamlisch: With Love. In February, we honor another household name and game-changer—the Queen of Soul in ARETHA: RESPECT.

Stuart Chafetz’ infectious, power rock is back in March with POPS Rocks Phil Collins and Principal Guest Conductor David Charles Abell brings another original show and landmark talent in April—Sondheim: A 90th Birthday Celebration.

We’ll close the season in May with SINATRA. Inspired by the SANDS show, arranged by Quincy Jones in 1966.  We are eager to present Philly’s absolute favorite—interpreted by my friend, the effervescent Michael Andrews!

I think you’ll agree—we have a lot to celebrate. For the longest time, I’ve been waiting to say: See you at the POPS!

With great appreciation,

Frank Giordano,
