Arguably the greatest composer of our time, Irving Berlin—with his catalogue of more than 1,500 songs—has kept music lovers singing for generations. Often called the Dean of American Composers, no other songwriter has had so much influence on the development and performance of American popular music. Perhaps Jerome Kern said it best: “Irving Berlin has no place in American music—he is American music.”
